Gold Room Props - UE4 Breakdown
Real-time rendering allows for unprecedented creative flow, production efficiency and flexibility. We at Happy Mushroom love this idea, and we are helping bring film-aesthetic to the real-time pipeline. Using UE4, we implement custom lighting rigs, photogrammetry, and professionally crafted assets to make that happen.
Here are some tests we ran between UE4 and VRay
Our tests have taught us that UE4 with some tweaking can get very close to the Global Illumination quality VRay delivers. With the addition of Lightmass Importance Volumes and Volumetric Lightmaps, animated actors can also have high quality lighting. We’ll show that in our next breakdown.

The owner was nice enough to let us take some photogrammetry of props outside. We took some individually, and others in an arrangement.
CLEAN ASSETS and ALBEDOS
Meshes go through a rigorous cleanup process. Some areas even get remodeled depending on the level of fidelity we’re looking for. Clean geometry and Albedos are essential to being able to light the scene properly.
We created a Cleanplate Albedo that served as the start point for the entire set. After models are cleaned up properly, textures are re-projected back onto meshes. We then DELIGHT them using a mixture of Lightroom, Photoshop, and Substance.

UE4 Realtime environments run at 90 fps, the lighting can be modified live, and customized to your needs.
